Maia Project: Clean Water for Children in Gaza

No better person than our Maia Project Coordinator, Ghada Mansi, to us the latest with the Maia Project: 

"Regardless of the challenges faced, the overall number of people (children, men, and women) who've benefited from the different purification units distributed across the Gaza Strip amounts to 56780 person\s. This is while taking into consideration that not all water purification units are working on full capacity (due to the pandemic restrictions).

There are currently approximately 18 water purification units that support kindergartens in Gaza, people living in the neighborhoods where the kindergartens are also benefit from these units. The reason they’re only 18 at the moment, is because some of the kindergartens are closed and some work on a part-time or shifts basis. Same goes for schools, where we have currently 53 units working at the moment to support schools. Before over 1100 or 1200 students would benefit from these units, now due to the lockdowns and restrictions, the number have decreased relatively to keep children safe."

The work is still undergoing, and while taking the necessary precautions; we continue to celebrate our children and people as we've done this past World Water Day. Where we celebrated together with the students at Absaan School in Gaza, the girls attended several mini-workshops discussing water pollution, use, and the overall water situation in Gaza. They've also had fun activities that included water-coloring and a small play that the girls have set up.
