Friends,

Thank you for your continued support of CREATE!’s project to provide sustainable access to clean water for rural families in Senegal. Over the past months, CREATE! has strengthened our partnerships with the rural communities of Walo, Gagnick Mack, and Darou Diadji in preparation for this water project.

The communities of Walo, Gagnick Mack, and Darou Diadji are excited to gain access to clean, abundant supplies of water!  By rehabilitating existing wells and installing solar-powered pumps and gravity-fed irrigation systems, CREATE! can help these rural villages advance towards achieving agricultural and economic self-sufficiency.

Although CREATE! has not yet raised sufficient funds to install solar arrays and water systems in these communities, our skilled field technicians have spent the past months providing low-cost, technical support and training for village residents. CREATE! field technicians have led trainings in improved cookstove construction in the communities of Walo, Gagnick Mack, and Darou Diadji.  At this point, each household in these villages has built at least one improved cookstove for home use.  These cookstoves produce less smoke and reduce demand for dwindling supplies of local firewood.

Community mobilization through cookstove training is the first step of CREATE!’s partnership in these villages.  Women are now forming gardening cooperatives and are looking forward to growing their own fruits, nuts, and vegetables using solar pumps and gravity-fed irrigation systems.  With your generous donation and training in sustainable agriculture from CREATE! field staff, we can ensure that women in Walo, Gagnick Mack, and Darou Diadji can feed their families!

CREATE!’s beneficiaries truly appreciate your donation to help them on their way to self-sufficiency! So what’s next?  We would love to have you get more involved with CREATE! Send an email to kaitlyn@createaction.org and I will let you know all the different ways that you can help out! Be sure to stay updated with what’s going on with CREATE! by becoming our friend on Facebook, following us on Twitter, and checking out our blog!

Best wishes,

Kaitlyn Grigsby
