Friends,

What does clean water mean for families in rural Senegal? With access to abundant and affordable water, CREATE! agricultural cooperative members are able to grow vegetables year-round in desert-like conditions for the first time ever. In Gagnick Mack, Ndeye says, “Before CREATE! rehabilitated our well, it was difficult to find vegetables in our village. Our children didn’t even know vegetables. Now, thanks to the garden and the guidance of CREATE!’s field technicians, we are able to grow a variety of nutritious vegetables in Gagnick Mack.”

Improved health and nutrition are not the only benefits that access to water provides. Rokhe of Darou Diaji adds, “Before CREATE! our village was like a desert, but now thanks to the garden and the tree planting campaign, we have green space and many trees around the village.” This transformation from desert to thriving oasis is only possible through access to clean, abundant, and affordable water.

Thanks to you, the villages of Walo, Gagnick Mack, and Darou Diadji are now tending thriving vegetable gardens year round. Even during the hottest part of the year, cooperative members are able to produce hundreds of pounds of vegetables!

There are other communities in Guinguineo District without access to abundant and affordable water. With your continued support, we can help families in these villages gain new agricultural skills and economic livelihoods, made possible through solar-powered water pumps and gravity-fed irrigation systems in cooperative gardens. Your donations make a difference!

CREATE!’s beneficiaries truly appreciate your donation to help them on their way to self-sufficiency! So what’s next?  We would love to have you get more involved with CREATE! Send an email to kaitlyn@createaction.org and I will let you know all the different ways that you can help out! Be sure to stay updated with what’s going on with CREATE! by signing up for our email list, becoming our friend on Facebook, following us on Twitter, and checking out our blog!

Best wishes,

Kaitlyn
