The southern part of Bangladesh specially the coastal part is much more vulnerable to severe tropical cyclone and storm surges. People loss their life and resources due to lack of disaster preparedness before during and after the disaster. Specially the children are the most vulnerable community who suffers a lot due to the lack of basic knowledge on disaster preparedness. BEDS has been working in the disaster risk reduction of the southern coastal people of Bangladesh. As a part of the aware ness raising program BEDS recently conducted a discussion session with coastal children with age group of 13-15. In the discussion session the students got to know about the importance of disaster preparedness and how they can do volunteer support from their side. The students group also shared their idea on before, during and after disaster preparedness among themselves. After the discussion session a short mock drill was practiced by them .
