Bangladesh is a riverine country and most of the community is living adjacent to river bank side for their livelihood and good communication. But most of the south western region of Bangladesh located nearest of Bay of Bengal and for this reason they face different types of natural disaster like cyclone, storm surge, flood etc. As a result, community people lost their asset like land, love stock, crop etc. So, natural disaster cannot be stopped but can minimize the rate of loss or damage. In that case, Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) started to mangrove restoration with the help of community so that people can mitigate the hit of storm surge and protect from soil erosion. So, it’s a permanent strategy how can mitigate the result of disaster risk. BEDS expectation is to plant mangrove trees in the belt of polder 33 of Dacope for the protection of life and resource.
BEDS is currently trying to raise funds from GlobalGiving platform in order to help those marginal people in the way of income generation for their better future with better economic conditions. We also hope that through taking support from various corners they will be able to use their products for earning their sound livelihood.
