Case studies from Wagina Island, Marasa, and Rennell Island show how organised communities can challenge harmful, and in some cases illegal, operations and demand accountability.

Built for the Solomon Islands with frontline advocates, this Toolkit serves traditional landowners, village leaders, conservation groups, church leaders, women’s groups, and anyone concerned about extractive industry expansion without social licence.
While this Toolkit was built for purpose, its application goes beyond mining in the Solomon Islands. Communities across the Pacific face urgent threats from the expanding extractives industry. This Toolkit can provide insightful case studies and strategies to inform regional and global efforts to protect human rights and the environment.
