Help Rural Families Build a Climate-Resilient Future
For families living in rural communities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the climate crisis is already affecting everyday life.
Longer periods of drought, declining soil fertility, environmental degradation, and unpredictable agricultural conditions are making it harder for farmers to grow enough food and earn a reliable income. For families who depend on agriculture, a poor harvest can mean less food, fewer resources for children, and an uncertain future.
Our Climate Resilience for Rural Communities in DRC project was created to help vulnerable farming communities respond to these challenges with practical, sustainable solutions.
We believe that rural communities should not simply survive climate change. They should have the knowledge, tools, and opportunities to adapt, recover, and build a stronger future.
The Challenge
More than 70% of rural households in the DRC depend on agriculture for their livelihoods. Yet many smallholder farmers have limited access to climate-smart agricultural knowledge, resources, and training.
When soils become degraded and rainfall becomes less predictable, agricultural production suffers. Families can become increasingly vulnerable to food insecurity and poverty, while environmental degradation continues to weaken the ecosystems that support their livelihoods.
The consequences are not only environmental. They affect real families, children, farmers, and entire communities.
This is why we are taking action.
Our Solution
The project will combine climate-smart agriculture, environmental restoration, and community education.
We aim to:
Our target is to contribute to crop yield improvements of up to 30%, depending on local conditions, farmer adoption, and other factors affecting agricultural production.
Where We Are Today
This project is currently in its preparation and resource mobilization phase.
We are identifying qualified trainers and potential learners who will participate in the planned activities. We are also working to mobilize the financial resources required to implement the project at the scale originally envisioned.
Our overall fundraising goal is US$150,000.
So far, we have received our first US$20.
It may be a small amount compared with our overall target, but it is a meaningful beginning. Every journey toward lasting change starts with the first step.

These examples are illustrative rather than fixed unit costs. Donations will be pooled and allocated according to the project's most urgent and appropriate needs.

We want to see farmers with greater confidence in managing changing climate conditions.
We want to see degraded land being restored.
We want to see trees returning to rural landscapes.
We want to see farmers learning techniques that help them protect their soils and improve agricultural production.
Most importantly, we want families to have a better chance of maintaining food security and protecting their livelihoods when climate shocks occur.
The real measure of this project will not simply be the number of trees planted or farmers trained. It will be whether communities are better equipped to face the future.

Our next priorities are to complete the identification of trainers and learners, continue fundraising, engage communities, and prepare the practical implementation of the project.
