Dear Friend,
There have been lots of celebrations since our last update, all of which were made possible with your tremendous support. Here are just a few of them.
Celebrating Coolest Projects
This month our annual Coolest Projects virtual event took place. Over 5,000 young digital tech creators from around the world showcased some incredible projects ranging from robotic arms to platformer games. We are now gearing up for our welcome return to Coolest Projects Ireland, which is happening in-person in Dublin on 1st July. Here we will celebrate young people and their amazing code projects from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Connecting with our community
In March, it was so exciting to host our first-ever Clubs Conference in Cambridge, UK. It was a fantastic weekend of learning and connecting with over 140 CoderDojo and Code Club volunteers and educators. Some of the topics discussed included inspiring the next generation in the field of AI, how to make Dojos more accessible, and keeping Ninjas engaged.
Spotlight
During Volunteer Week in June we cast a spotlight on CoderDojo Brighton, who are celebrating their 10-year anniversary this year. Initially hosted out of Brighton University, its co-founders started by spreading the word about CoderDojo at science fairs and Brighton Festival. They soon attracted the attention of business sponsors and mentors, and since its creation, have welcomed over 1,200 Ninjas. Part of its success is down to the inclusive and fun atmosphere, and one parent of two of our Ninjas shared recently:
“This club has been an amazing addition to both my children’s lives [..]. Every city should have a CoderDojo. Not just because coding is becoming increasingly important in every part of our lives, but because it teaches independence, patience, and friendship and so much more”.
We appreciate your continued support of the CoderDojo community! We look forward to showing you all the exciting ways your support helps to make a big impact in our next update.
Best wishes,
Jade
