The aim of the project was to assist in engagement of community youth in community development process, also to develop skills for revealing community problems and for their solutions, to assist in development of IT and media spheres in the community as well as activation of community volunteering work.
We have already implemented «Communities' Young Voices» program in four provinces of the Republic of Armenia (Khor Virap in Ararat province, Jermuk in Vayots Dzor province, Hrazdan in Kotayk province, Byurakan in Areagatzotni province). At present it is being implemented in two provinces of Armenia: in Shirak, village Arapi and in Lori, town Vanadzor. Two working groups are formed and they coordinate the community activities.
In the result of the above mentioned, 30 beneficiaries took part in the program, among which 14-30 year old 13 boys and 17 girls. In the frame of the program they took part in the organized seminars, meeting-trainings, gained knowledge, skills in the IT sphere.
As active beneficiaries they have been doing research in their communities, taking interviews and after that organizing discussions, experience/idea exchange in their blogs, social sites; thus revealing the problems, suggestions and all the historical cases that are connected with the community.
Another project outcome is that in the mentioned communities we raised the employment level among 30 young boys and girls. They are busy with organizing discussions, revealing community problems, participating in community meetings, organizing online discussions with the other youth from the four communities. Other non beneficiary youth also take part in the organized gatherings. Thus all these assist in revealing community needs and finding solutions for them.
Our active beneficiaries also take part in community meetings, express their opinion, wishes; all these activities help in finding solutions, for example beneficiaries from Arapi village shot a short film about river “Axuryan” and presented the polluted level of the river, they studied the problems of the river, disseminated it in their blogs, organized discussions and suggested solutions for the problem. 16 year old Slava is one of our beneficiaries from village Arapi. He was chosen as the working group manager. He is very much satisfied of the work that he does and expresses his thoughts so:
“Hi, I am Slava from village Arapi. The “Communities' Young Voices” program gave me possibilities to organize very interesting meetings, discussions for the community youth. In the result of this they raised the level of their self-consciousness, self-esteem; this proves their active and free participation in community life, meetings and discussions. This is a unique possibility to make our voice heard on important community problems. I could mobilize youth on this serious tasks”. Thanks: Thank your supporters that we are given an opportunity to realize this project.
