CGEP ACTIVITY REPORT: MAY-JULY

SOFT SKILLS TRAINING 

In the month of May, a training session was initiated using the Competency based Economics through Formation of Enterprise approach. This approach is to help stimulate the participants’ motivation, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit. This approach is divided into four faces, The orientation, the sensitization, strengthening and consolidation which is tailored to the needs of the beneficiaries.

SOFT SKILLS TRAINING 

A workshop program was organized for the beneficiaries of Recycle Up, which was carried on for four days with each day comprising a diverse activity to help equip the beneficiaries with various skills that will help them in their businesses. The objectives of the workshop organized was to;

  • Help build the capacity of the beneficiaries on how to start a business.
  • Help build the capacities of beneficiaries on how to operate and business.
  • And lastly, how to sustain a business.

 

GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR COHORT 2

The graduation ceremony for Cohort 2 of the Community Green Economy Program, organized by Recycle Up! Ghana took place on July 26th at the Agona Community Centre. The program aimed to empower participants in black soap production, mushroom farming, and snail farming. Special guests, including the Director of the Youth Employment Agency and the District Chief Executive, attended the event. Participants shared their success stories, highlighting significant improvements in their livelihoods, and Madam Patricia from the Business Advisory Center encouraged women entrepreneurs to capitalize on their skills. The DCE emphasized the value of acquired skills and pledged support for accessing financial assistance, while participants received a cash prize of 20,000 Ghana cedis to enhance their businesses. The event concluded with motivation and networking opportunities, celebrating the positive impact of the program on participants' lives and communities.

SUPPORT DELIVERY

Also a token of appreciation and support, the women were presented with a cash prize amounting to 20,000 Ghana cedis. This financial aid is intended for acquiring tools and equipment, raw materials to the CGEP Beneficiciaries grow a sustainable business.           

CHECK IN CALLS

  • Calls were made on monthly basis for cohort 1 beneficiaries to identify gthe challenges the face in their entrepreneurial journey and the rate of production.
  • Calls were also made to cohort 2 beneficiaries to address their problems, get feedback on the soft skill training and assist them in production.

EVALUATION OF IMPART OF TRAINING

The check in calls helped to see that out of the 19 beneficiaries in cohort 19 , 5 of the have started training and the other 14 have not started due to luck of start-up capital and difficulty in accessing raw materials.

Also in cohort 2 the black soup production had been able to make another production with the capital and support given.

Lastly a story telling video was made and uploaded on the RUG social media platforms and the GlobalGiving platforms.
