Dear Supporters,
Last month our outreach team was able to visit 350 children across South Africa. During the visit we teamed up with our partner to carry out eye tests on the children and we caught many children with early eye problems that have now been referred to specialists. We also took this opportunity to talk to the children and their parents about promoting good health, the importance of hygiene, hand washing, healthy eating and keeping active.
Most people we found engaged well with our outreach activities and since then we have seen families going for a walk and asking their schools to help them set up a small veggie patch at home. We know there is a need for urgent medical supplies but we really have seen how outreach activities can help longer term for prevention of the need of medical care.
We spent around $2,000 over the past 3 months on our outreach activities and we know that from this we will make a huge saving longer term in the medical care they will need. The townships we visited are also townships that have no or very limited health care facilities
Many Thanks,
