Project Report | Oct 30, 2023
We are the catalyst for Positive Change

By Titus Musyoka | Program Officer

With our on-field training at Mukuru Kwa Njenga with the Vision Daycare girls' we covered random topics as we did not have a specific theme we were addressing. The topics covered were leadership, self-directed learning, the power of education, savings, budgeting, health and wellness, and problem-solving.

We have three community Coaches who have been mentoring the young girls to navigate the challenges that young girls go through in the informal settlement, how to bounce back and be resilient.

Before the closure of schools, we did a recap of all the sessions we conducted for the last three months with the girls from Vision Daycare. It was exciting to see that the girls had acquired new skills and learned new words from the games.

Regarding the off-field training, where we aim to inspire young girls using the Pamoja handbook, we have made significant progress. The content we have covered so far has been crucial in addressing the specific needs and challenges faced by those young girls. It has equipped them with the knowledge they need to navigate their lives confidently and make informed decisions. Starting this month, we will integrate the new curriculum with our community impact program to run the Women Up program at Huruma grounds for the Huruma Queens.

Some of our participants are currently doing their final exams in Primary school, even though we have spent few days compared to the plan we had in the beginning, we wish them all the best in their exams and we believe that they will be our ambassadors in various schools that they go and even communities that they will end up in.

The long holiday has just begun and our Coaches have developed a plan to engage not only them but also their male counterparts in the program through the Community impact program. The sessions will run till the second week of December and break till the second week of January 2024.

In 2024, we anticipate increasing the number of girls in our program by partnering with more schools and football teams and collaborating with like-minded organizations to increase our reach and impact. Will you join us in a noble cause?

Asante Sana,
