Increasing forest cover through play in Nairobi

Founder David Mulo, reflects on a decade of Green-Kenya.

Time flies so fast, it was the other day when G-K was founded. I remember when I decided to impact the lives of young people through play, It was one of the most fulfilling passions in my life, I wondered what I could do to create a safe, fun, and learning environment for Children in different communities. We started with one school in Nairobi, Shauri Moyo community in Eastlands in 2014, a lot has changed ever since.

Green-Kenya has grown into a reputable Sport for Development organization, we are the leaders in Sport for Development Climate Action in Africa. We have impacted over 15,000 Children in different parts of Africa. Our programs have evolved into five main divisions, the is,  Social Impact Program, Women Up, Environmental Literacy, Social Impact Consultancy, and Football academy.

For the last 9 years, Green-Kenya has been fundraising through global GlobalGiving. GG as commonly known by global donors, has been true to its mission. This is why on behalf of Green-Kenya I would to thank all our supporters who have stood with us even in difficult moments for example during Covid, You kept our hope alive through your donation, channeled to us the GlobalGiving

All that we have achieved, could not have been possible without the passion and dedication of some of the unsung heroes like the community Coaches, the Green-Kenya Committee team, and community schools. I would like to thank our Board of directors for their wisdom and guidance over the years, Special thanks to Elin and Per Hansen who introduced us to GlobalGiving, She has been our supporter for the last 10 years.
