Pregnant women and children under the age of two are the most vulnerable populations with respect to health and susceptibility to illnesses. They are most at risk for illnesses and diseases related to poor hygiene and sanitation such as diarrheal-related sicknesses.
Our Clean Hands Saves Lives project, known as Kunawa Mikono Huokoa Maisha, provides community members with the proper tools and skills for handwashing to help reduce diseases caused through dirty hands. We were able to support over 700 households with pregnant women and children under the age of two by equipping the with proper washing facilities.
Our Community Care groups, led by community health volunteers, are another innovative approach in our reproductive, maternal, neonatal, and child health programming. Just check out these numbers:
