CFK celebrated #WorldBreastfeedingWeek during our annual outreach event in Kibera on Tuesday, August 8, 2018. We celebrated with a procession through the community, conducted CFK program presentations, shared testimonies on breastfeeding, and provided demonstrations on proper latching techniques and baby positioning. To raise awareness of the role that men can play during breastfeeding, we recruited 42 men from 6 different villages to participate in activities.
Our efforts to increase breastfeeding awareness continue all year. Our household education sessions on breastfeeding reached 1200 households last year and we've provided half day training sessions on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for 35 parents with malnourished children. We've trained 77 care group volunteers on good nutrition and breastfeeding to furnish them with information to share in their households and throughout their communities.
We offer special thanks to WABA World Breastfeeding Week for their financial support of our work to support the health of all mothers and children in Kibera and beyond.
And thank you too for your interest in and support of Carolina for Kibera.
