During these 3 months, we have realized 8 meetings instead of scheduled 6. The girls gained skills in Power-Point presentation, From character to a profession, Career planning, Conflict Resolution, etc. All the mentees made power-point presentations on the topic of their interest and presented them to their peers. This was a great experience for the girls to practice their public speaking and computer skills. These meetings allowed the girls to feel prepared for the next meetings. The girls could also reveal their characteristics through Holland’s career test and understand how much their character coincides with the professions they chose. The girls also visited a number of universities and colleges, such as Shirak State University, Art Academy, Gyumri Medical College, etc. to learn about available professions and the process of admitting the university.
As a result of these meetings, one of the mentees: Zaruhi, has changed her profession and chose another profession that had higher demand in the city than the one she chose previously. Zaruhi wanted to become a hairdresser, however, when she learned about social work, its goals and objectives, about the skills required to get this profession, she got motivated and expressed an interest to pursue a degree in social work. She explained her decision highlighting her own character and interests and how this coincides with the profession. Besides, social work is highly demanded in Gyumri.
Also, the mentees had the opportunity to share their experiences as mentees and the knowledge they gained and the need they have with the representatives of AIWA: Rachel Nadjarian and Mane Mehrabyan. This meeting was very motivating for all the mentees.
One of our mentees expressed her thoughts regarding the program: "Nor Luyce helped me gain a number of skills, such as computer skills, English language skills. This project also helped me to change my character and life. I gained a lot of good friends. With the help of the learned skills, I became more confident than I was before. Now I can go forward and accomplish more things with the knowledge I gained here. I believe this program still has a lot of things to provide me with."
