Using Computer Skills for Public Speaking Practice

By Shoghik Mikayelyan | Executive Director

During these last three months, a total of 56 participants in Nor Luyce joined a series of classes to help develop new computer skills for future professional employment. Of the 56 participants, 16 mentor-mentee pairs created powerpoint presentations for developing public speaking skills with use of the computer skills developed previously. 20 mentees from Skill-Building Phase gained a number of computer skills as well as 4 mentees of the Scholarship Phase, totaling in 116 hours of training for all participants.

The mentees of Nor Luyce had the opportunity to make powerpoint presentations on different topics, practice their computer skills, make individual works for their class, and create research papers. Mentoring Phase mentees put together powerpoint presentations with the help of their mentors and after were able to present in front of their peers for their first experience of public speaking.

The mentees of the Skill Building Phase had the opportunity to practice their skills by developing a powerpoint presentation to present their future career plans. Presenting on their career plans and answering questions from their peers helped them to understand what they can do and that they are in control of their future.

The mentees of the Scholarship Phase became efficient in their computer skills by generating and presenting a powerpoint presentation in front of other members of the organization. This event allowed the mentees to utilizing their learned skills and sharing their knowledge
