Inspired to change

By Sona Harutyunyan | Group Meeting Coordinator

"Nor Luyce is the only place in my town where I can get free access to a resource center, where I acquire new knowledge and gain skills, use computers to get ready for my classes. I am very grateful that you let me be competitive among my peers. "

"With the help of my mentor I started to prepare presentations, and I noticed that I started to use the keyboard quickly and competently, and work has become 2-3 times easier and enjoyable. Due to this program I could save time to study more and do extra-curriculum activities".

During these past 3 months, mentees continued taking part in computer classes and use the learnt skills. 7 mentees have prepared individual papers on different topics, such as Armenian army, Armenian national dances, Music, Mesrop Mashtotz,Sightseeings, Mount Ararat and Seven Wonders of the World. They later transferred their papers to a power-point presentations. Due to the knowledge gained during computer classes, our mentees could not only make their study productive at schools, but also help their parents search the necessary information.

One of the mentees walked in happily and said: ,,I am so happy and proud  that I could use my acquired knowledge and do my homework perfectly, and on top of that could help my parents to learn MS Office”.

During those 3 months 6 meetings out of scheduled 6 were held for the mentees. They learned how to navigate internet safely, make individual papers and PPT's and they also received public speaking skills.

The resource center was used not only by the mentees, but also by mentors and other volunteers.

From November to January mentees used resource center to write course works, research papers, individual papers, search the necessary information on the internet and make videos for mentees and PPT's for their classes.

In total during these several months, Nor Luyce provided 87 hours of computer class and usage to 45 mentees, 18 mentors and 6 volunteers
