“The opportunity that Nor Luyce offers us: adolescent girls, is amazing. We learn various fascinating things. We practice our skills. We talk about the topics that we are interested in. The staff is very open-minded and kind. They not only help each mentee to acquire the necessary skills but they also make sure we feel happy and comfortable. I truly appreciate their work, since Nor Luyce has helped me to become a person like I am now”: mentee Drmoyan Lusine.

Nor Luyce provided 183 hours of computer classes and skill practice to 42 mentees17 mentors, and 6 volunteers during the last three months. As it is seen, the resource center was available to be used not only by the mentees but also by the mentors and other volunteers of the organization.

From May to July mentees used resource center to write individual and research papers, search safely the necessary information on the internet, input dates into a computer, and make power point presentations for their classes and peers in the organization, thus practicing not only their skills but also learning something new and realizing a volunteer work.

The 65 hours of volunteer work includes creating a database of meetings, check-in lists, assisting the project coordinator in preparing group meetings for the new mentoring group members.

7 mentees helped the Project Coordinator to organize group meetings for other beneficiaries of the organization. Those meetings include and are not limited to: CV writing skills, Interview skills, Secretary work skills, Ethics at job-sites, Sportlandia: where mentees searched the information, sports activities on the Internet, edited it, created an interesting meeting, which they presented to the other group members.

This summer, Nor Luyce has piloted a program, where the Mentoring Phase mentees took part in a 5- day-intensive-computer classes. During that week, we could realize 87 hours of computer classes.  The mentees gained a basic knowledge of MS Word and MS PowerPoint Presentation programs. This short-term training aimed to prepare the mentees for the Skill Building Phase of the next year and they will be able to start practicing their skills as soon as they start Skill Building Phase.

As one of the girls mentioned: “It is very important for me to know MS Word and MS PowerPoint as I can do a lot of things for my classes and for my brothers.  I am really happy that we not only learned the skills, but we could also practice it during the meetings. As a result, I made a postcard for my mum to show what I learned in Nor Luyce.
