More skills on the way to empowerment

By Shoghik Mikayelyan, Sona Harutyunyan | Executive Director, Group Meeting Coordinator

Computer skills are important for everyone. Sometimes, it takes a lot of time to search the necessary information and even you don’t know how reliable the source is, but due to my computer skills and the knowledge of how to navigate through the internet, I can easily find the necessary information about anything for me and my family. At the same time, I save my time for my studies.Violeta Minasyan, a mentee.

During these months, mentees used their skills to write course works, research papers, individual papers, make PPTs for the school work and college. They also could use their skills and volunteer in the organization. They made a database of meetings, typed evaluation information, check-in lists, and assisted in preparing group meeting materials for the new mentoring group conducting research to find the necessary information for the meeting.

The resource center was used not only by the mentees, but also by mentors and other volunteers.

Mentors used the resource center to make their meetings more effective and helped them to find information that interested mentees.

3 mentees helped the Group Meeting Coordinator to organize group meeting for other beneficiaries of the organization. They organized meeting about Time Management, Leadership and How to navigate through the Internet which they presented to the participants. Mentees learned leadership skills, time management skills, etc.

One of the mentees mentioned: ''It was really cool to learn to manage the time because I had some difficulties of managing my time. I wasn't able to finish all the things that my teachers gave me. But now I feel that I can do everything in deadlines. Thank you, Nor Luyce, for providing the opportunity and training.''

In total during these several months, Nor Luyce provided 100

hours of computer classes and usage to 58 mentees22 mentors, and 6 volunteers.
