Dear donors,
We have achieved quite a lot since we kicked off our project in summer of 2016 with 20 donated second hand computers and volunteers who believed the young generation should be taught algorithmic thinking and have free minds to create.
First a fun computer coding program was developed; then university students were trained to be workshop trainers and finally disadvantaged children from low income families were introduced to computer coding. Some of these children had never even touched a computer before and at the end of a 10 week course, they were presenting the games they have coded to their parents with great confidence. From this point on,we had the parents on our team as well; they were no longer worried about the time children spent with computers.
Now just in 2.5 years and with only volunteer trainers and volunteer program managers, 1986 children in 53 CYDD centers have been introduced to computer coding, some have even progressed to level 3 courses. Enclosed is a detailed chart showing CYDD centers, number of students and trainers in each center; even though it is in Turkish, I'm sure it will give you an idea of our achievement.
To open new courses in new centers, we need to buy simple laptops and some of our donated second hand computers need to be replaced soon. As we do not have a single big sponsor for our project, we rely on your donations and ask for your continued support..
Gratefully yours,
