Dear donor,
Our three year goal for the computer coding project was to teach 1500 disadvantaged students in 20 cities and to train 200 university students as workshop trainers. We have so far reached and exceeded our goal with 1919 students, 310 courses and 397 trainers in 21 cities.
In the meantime the Ministry of Education has added computer coding to its curriculum and many public and private elementary schools already started to teach code.org and scratch programs to the students. We are thus continually updating our programs to meet the needs of students that attend CYDD courses. We test their knowledge and if they are really familiar with the basics, we offer them our third level program.
But this is mainly the case in the rather well-off western towns where there are computers for every student in the class or in some other not so well-off towns where there is an ambitious computer teacher at school.
We thus aim to start new courses in towns of central and eastern Anatolia. This summer we already organized 8 summer courses in Mersin, Hatay,Eskisehir,Samsun,Gaziantep and Çanakkale benefiting 71 students in addition to summer courses in Izmir and Istanbul provinces. During the Türkel Minibas summer camp in Kbrsçk Bolu a very successful course was held for 12 children.
As we hope to spread our efforts to eastern towns, a need for new computers arise and we need your support as strongly as ever..
Yours truly,
