We are happy to report that the CYDD computer coding program is developing faster than we have anticipated and we have already many standby students waiting for new level 1 courses. A total number of 180 students have participated in the program through 19 courses opened in different CYDD centers during fall 2016. We have also increased the number of our volunteer trainers (who are scholarship students studying computer sciences) to 41. The courses are held on the weekends and at least two trainers help 8-10 students in each class.
We plan to involve ÇYDD branches in other cities in this program. As long as the branch has volunteer trainer candidates, we will train the trainers and set up their classroom and supervise their team. Following this model, ÇYDD Bursa branch joined the program in 2017 and we also commenced the program in AÇEV’s (Mother and Child Foundation) Center in Esenler, Istanbul.
We are thrilled with the enthusiasm of both the children attending and the trainers working with the children. Young girls and boys from low income families attending the course learn, play and create on their computers and this work, bringing out their creativity is a real diversion from their school work. This course provides also invaluable experience to our young trainers who recognize their teaching and pedagogical skills.
We hope to reach more children in other towns; for this we do need your continual support to set new computer classrooms and train more volunteer trainers.
Thank you..
