The "Wheels on the Bus" are rolling through Wamunyu! Thanks to the generosity of over 140 donors, Kenya Connect has our very own Magic School Bus! This bus will bring students from our schools that are 10-30 km from the Learning Resource Center to the LRC for computer classes and enrichment programs. Now more students can take the innovative Level Up Village classes like Global Inventors and Global Conversations -- courses that encourage computer skills, critical thinking and team building.
Along with transporting students, the bus is also being used as a bookmobile. Students can read on the bus as they travel to the LRC and back to their school. The bus will also bring books to teachers to use in their classrooms. The bus makes our programs even more accessible to the 17,000 students and 500 teachers we serve.
"I find the magic bus of great meaning to me because I find time to read a variety of books like "The magic bus explores the universe". I have discovered and learnt so much from the Magic Bus series as i ride the bus to and from the LRC . I am glad that the bus is providing a condusive environment for extra time to study apart from the usual class time. Thank you for making the magic bus a reality"

Along with the excitement of our new bus, the community is also pleased that we are piloting the Reusable Sanitary Pad Project named, "Wings Poa." 44 kits were distributed to students at Nunga Primary School, Wamunyu special school and our ACCESS students. The kits include a drawstring bag, a pair of shields, 8 liners, a pair of underpants and two ziploc bags to soak and wash the soiled liners in. Our team helped the girls learn how to use the kit and how to keep the materials clean and hygenic. This project is helping girls stay in school during their monthly menstrual cycle.
Wings Poa is quite hygienic, afforadable and comfortable product to use. All the girls we have worked with so far have shown a very positive attitude towards the product and this has grown more interest to other girls to try the product.

Last week 42 secondary school students of ACCESS and The School Fund programs participated in a webinar at the Learning Resource Center hosted by the U.S. Embassy on the college application process. This workshop provided important details and guidelines to students who otherwise would not be able to garner this information. Donors like you help make these programs possible by providing financial support for our internet, computers and staff. Our LRC is the only facility for 100km with computers, a LCD projector, and reliable internet. We are deeply grateful for on-going donations that help elevate our programs for students living in extreme poverty.
Thank you for supporting these dynamic programs that are enriching and empowering students in Wamunyu.
