Exciting news! For the 2nd year in a row, "The Village That Reads" has been selected as a Global Innovation by HundrED!
Every year, HundrED showcases 100 of the brightest education innovations from around the world and we’re thrilled to be included for the second year in a row!
Chosen from over 3,000 innovations and reviewed by an expert academy board, this recognition shows that "The Village That Reads" is not only transforming literacy and reading in rural Kenya for teachers, parents and children, but is also internationally recognized as impactful and scalable.
Librarian Esther Muinde shared, "This recognition is a celebration of the power of books and reading in our community. It truly reaffirms our work in building a community of readers."
"I am so excited that our Library Team and entire staff is being recognized for our work to bring the joy, wonder and knowledge of books to the community. We have seen children become more fluent readers and interested in reading beyond text books. Our staff has been creative in hosting Saturday Storytimes, the Radio Read Alound, and LitFests which students, teachers and parents appreciate." Executive Director Sharon Runge.
This week at a LitFest parent Faith shared, "One thing I have learnt today is that the Kenya Connect Magic Bus carries a lot of goodies that are bringing light to our villages and schools. We appreciate Kenya Connect for championing literacy in our community.
