Girls Continue to Learn Despite the Restrictions

By Hassina Sherjan | Executive Director

I’m thrilled to share the incredible impact your support has made on our online students.

Despite the harsh restrictions imposed by the Taliban on girls’ education and work, your contributions have empowered these resilient girls to continue learning and dream beyond what they once thought possible. The skills they’ve gained through our computer classes have not only given them knowledge but also instilled a renewed sense of self-confidence and determination.

Hamida, one of our students from Jozjan province, shared, “Learning how to use a computer and having one to explore online education has been a dream come true. I now believe I can earn my high school certificate and maybe even complete university online.”  Her video is attached.

Hamida’s mother, a widow raising three daughters and a son, expressed her gratitude for the opportunities these classes have provided. “This is our only hope,” she wrote. “If my daughters can learn online and earn an income, it will change our lives. I used to work at a beauty salon after my husband passed, but the Taliban shut it down. These classes give us hope.”

This year, with your continued support, we aim to expand our online classes to reach 500 girls. Access to a computer means the world to our students—it opens doors to new knowledge, connections with peers across the globe, and opportunities to build brighter futures.

One of the girls at our online event last week said, “No one can stop me or other girls from learning. I was close to graduating when everything changed. Over the past three years, I’ve taught myself web development, improved my English, and now work online for various companies.”

Your generosity is not just helping these girls learn—it’s helping them rewrite their futures. Thank you for being a part of this transformative journey.  Please share our program with friends and loved ones. Together, we can ensure these girls continue to rise, no matter the obstacles.

With gratitude

Hassina Sherjan
