Center that is maintained thanks to donations from visitors and the activities carried out in its facilities. These donations allow us to continue with the restoration and maintenance of the rooms to offer spaces more suitable for the activities of the cultural and artistic agenda. As a Cultural Center it has participated in festivals such as the Cervantino Baroque, photography, book fairs, among others.
One of the objectives of La Enseñanza is to offer spaces for art and culture in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, which is why the team's efforts focus on the rehabilitation of its floors, which require special care. The resource received through donations allows us to fulfill this purpose.
In the second stage of maintenance of the rooms, thanks to your donations we were able to finish laying the floor of one of the largest rooms, and the electrical installations for both contact and special lighting for exhibitions have also been carried out. Since its opening to the public, two exhibitions, conferences, workshops and documentary screenings have been held in this room. Where it has benefited more than 5,000 thousand people, we currently have in this restored room an exhibition called “Colors of the Earth”, a project by Carlos Barrera in collaboration with textile communities from Chiapas and Oaxaca, in addition to the support of the support system. to the creation and Cultural projects, and from the Cultural Association Na Bolom A.C this exhibition explores the art of treatment with natural dyes, it is the result of 16 years of work. The third stage will begin in a couple of days,
It will begin by lifting the cables that are underground so that there is no type of accident, later the earth will begin to be removed so that a height of approximately one meter can remain, this so that the wooden floor can be placed and can be kept free of moisture. At the same time, our boss Javier is getting the wood for the rooms: beams and planks.
Many thanks to the people who are supporting us with their donation, thanks to them we will continue with the restoration of the missing rooms so that we can offer the public more exhibitions, workshops, among others. We hope that more people join our project.
