Thank you for your donation to our Conservation Education project. With your support, DSWF can continue to fund a variety of ground-based conservation partners across Africa and Asia which reach thousands of children, securing a safe future for endangered wildlife.
In Zimbabwe, the Painted Dog Conservation (PDC) held 24 Bush Camps in the last year, reaching nearly 800 children. This DSWF-sponsored, free of charge program teaches children about the value of conservation, respecting nature and better understanding the endangered painted dog, which was previously seen as a threat to the community.
In Russia, the Phoenix Fund which works to protect the Amur tiger holds a varied schedule of -exhibitions, eco-lessons and clean-up actions, which engage thousands of children and adults across Russia. This year, they held the 19th annual art contest for children, which promotes respectful attitudes towards the Amur tiger; 1,405 children sent in their paintings from all across Russia.
In Kyrgyzstan, the Snow Leopard Trust were able to this year launch new eco-camps for children and pilot a Nature Club scheme which engages local children. Two camps were held, with students ages 14-15 years old taken to stay at a local wildlife sanctuary for 3 days. At the camps, the students were able to accompany rangers on their patrols and join researchers in their search for wildlife.
With your support, DSWF can continue to find these crucial initiatives which ensure that the children of today can grow up to become the conservationists of tomorrow, protecting endangered wildlife across the world.
