In September, Game Rangers International (GRI) were able to open their new Education Centre. This is thanks to critical funding from DSWF that has enabled GRI to partner with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) to develop a world class conservation education centre in Lusaka National Park, Zambia.
The Conservation Education Centre will complement and intensify GRI’s existing Lusaka-based community outreach programme, enabling them to reach additional beneficiaries each year and provide in-situ education. The core purpose of the Education Centre is to empower local communities to understand the ecology of their environment, and to make the changes needed to protect their natural resources.
The Conservation Education Centre will educate the local community in a number of key conservation and ecological issues such as: biodiversity and ecosystems, habitats and food chains, deforestation, water sanitation and excessing farming.
