Protecting Rainforests for Wild Orangutans

Did you know that protecting orangutan habitat safeguards thousands of other species, from tigers to rare orchids, because they all depend on the same rich rainforest. 

From nurturing seedlings to providing scholarships, your support is helping us create a brighter future for orangutans, biodiversity, and the communities that share their forests. 

Here at SOS, we are incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made in 2025. Together, standing alongside our incredible frontline partners, we’ve been able to:

• Protect three vital forest corridors in West Toba and Batang Toru, keeping these precious landscapes connected for Sumatran and Tapanuli orangutans.

• Break ground on a new rewilding site in the Gunung Leuser National Park. Where our partners have produced 50,000 seedlings, achieving over half of the initial 90,000 seedling target.

• Fund a scholarship for a local conservation leader, which will support the on-the-ground capacities of the Human-Orangutan Conflict Rescue Unit.
