Challenge

The children's home is currently operating from a rented building that presents several challenges affecting the quality of care provided to vulnerable children. The rental cost is high and unsustainable in the long term, reducing the resources available for child care, education, health, and psychosocial support. The existing facility is not specifically designed for children, offers limited safe play and recreational space, and creates difficulties for staff in effectively supervising.

Solution

The project will lease land and construct a single-level child-trauma-friendly building, designed to meet the developmental needs of the children. It will reduce the monthly operating cost, allowing to invest in their service and well-being. It will provide a safe, accessible, and child-friendly environment that reduces the risks of accidents and improves supervision. The project will incorporate trauma-informed design features such as calm living spaces, natural lighting, private counseling etc

Long-Term Impact

The project will provide a pathway for the protection of 30 children annually, allowing them to improve physical safety, emotional well-being, and mental health. With a major reduction in operating cost, the project will be sustainable with better staff effectiveness and child protection standards met. The project will provide a permanent, safe, and healing environment that strengthens the quality of care for vulnerable children while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the children's home.
