Project Report | Jan 2, 2024
Thank you for your support in 2023!

By Charlie Estes | Strategic Initiatives & Communications Director

Dear Project Supporter,

2023 is over and we want to thank you for your generous support of the La Gonave Community Leadership & Development Center this year. In 2023, we achieved several milestones, including finalizing a design for the center with the architect and completing fundraising for the well that will provide water to the center.

Going into 2024, our momentum is stronger than ever. We have kicked off Phase 1 of fundraising for the center’s construction and have already received a donation of $100,000 and a pledge to match $200,000 worth of donations for the center. Once we have raised the $200,000 that will be matched, we will be 90% of the way to our goal for Phase 1!

This may seem like a big goal, but we know that with the support of our amazing network of donors like you, we will be able to achieve that and more.

The La Gonave Community Leadership & Development Center is the dream of the team in Haiti and their community partners on the island. It will bring both pride and attention to the island and serve generations of Haitian leaders for decades to come. At this time of crisis and uncertainty in Haiti, the center will be a long-term investment in Haitian leadership when Haiti needs it most.

In addition to working to build the La Gonave Community Leadership & Development Center, Roots and our Haitian partner, Rasin, do so much more, from capacity-strengthening workshops and trainings to paving roads and increasing food security. We hope you’ll continue to get to know us and learn more about our work by following us on Facebook or Instagram

Thank you so much, and see you in 2024!
