Project Report | Oct 6, 2020
Corona Virus outbreak prevention and response

By S.M. Arasu | Founder Director

Summary The COVID-19 pandemic, is an ongoing pandemic of caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The disease was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, Hubei, China. The outbreak was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organisation in January 2020, and was recognised as a pandemic in March 2020. As of 6 October 2020, more than 35.5 million cases have been reported worldwide, although the true number of cases is likely to be much higher. A more reliable indicator for case spread is the more than 1.04 million deaths attributed to COVID-19. The disease spreads most often when people are physically close. It spreads very easily and sustainably through the air, primarily via small droplets and sometimes in aerosols, as an infected person breathes, coughs, sneezes, talks, or sings. It may also be transmitted via contaminated surfaces, although this has not been conclusively demonstrated. It can spread for up to two days prior to symptom onset and from people who are asymptomatic. People remain infectious for seven to twelve days in moderate cases and up to two weeks in severe cases. Challenge Puducherry, a Union Territory in India is the worst place where the COVID-19 pandemic spreads very fast even though the government takes all precautionary steps to safe guard people. More than 1000 people get infected and around 10-15 people die every day which is too much for a small state. Now all the hospitals are filled with Covid patients and people get themselves quarantined in their homes. Solution The donation offered by you will help us to control the spreading of epidemic by providing resources needed for it. The support received by us will be utilized for the following: 1. To provide masks, ventilators and other lifesaving equipment 2. To provide necessary medication to the community 3. To feed the under privileged children 4. To support the families who lost their job, by providing food material. 5. To provide hand wash, sanitizer and soap to the poor families Long-Term Impact By the efforts of Prime Trust, we are trying to create community who can face future crisis. Regular awareness education to the community on health and hygiene through our staff members will build a strong community. People who lost their jobs need our support to run their families. We are trying to help them with food material to support them in a small way. Resources http://www.primetrust.org http://www.primetrust.org/support-for-corona-prev
