Awareness session on HIV/AIDS for the children
World AIDS Day, designated on 1 December every year since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease.
On 01.12.2022, World AIDS day awareness sessions were conducted for the children in our Home and Evening Schools by Mary Slessor, Program Manager. The session started with a game. The participants were asked about what they knew about HIV/AIDS. The ways of transmission, how it is not transmitted, HIV test, and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome was explained. It was a new subject to most of them. Handbills on the HIV/AIDS Act, 2017, and facts and information about HIV/AIDS were given to the participants. The children responded with interest. It was a participatory session.
