Pandemic changed many things in Santiago Atitlán, many people were left without work, children could no longer go to schools, people could no longer leave town.
It mostly affected the economy of the town, the local shops were closed because there was no longer the visit of tourists, many times it was not possible to get the food of each day.
Cojolya, with the help of big-hearted donors, was able to support a good number of artisans and people from the community in need, to bring some food to their homes as well as soaps, a mask and gel for personal care.
It was possible to deliver to the needy people of the town a bag of food which includes corn being a primary food for the indigenous people, beans and sugar were also included, this so that the needy people and their families can go to bed with their stomachs. full.
The children benefiting from the Mano a Mano program could also be visited at their homes to give them new literacy brochures, as well as a basket with cookies and sweets, since due to the current situation parents do not have to buy any sweet or chocolate for children.
With the donations of good-hearted people, the weavers are having a little work, to financially support their families in these critical moments, where the country and the people have been affected by the Covid pandemic.
