Dear Friends,

As the Covid19 pandemic persists across the world and continues to spread through social venues, many schools whose officials fear the risk of infections continue to deny children face to face classroom learning. To address this barrier to social and economic development, Asia America Initiative continues to provide hygiene supplies to school age children, teachers, and volunteers. This program assists at least 3,500 children in the Philippine regions of Mindanao and Visayas. Impact of the school closures has been dramatic in communities where extreme poverty and communal violence are rampant. Children are invigorated through literacy, livelihood skills, and health support and must continue to have access to their school community.

Teachers in AAI sponsored schools are working hard to engage students who have drifted away from their studies as family pressures and food prices continue to rise.  "Thank you for your kindness," says Principal Rowena of Buenavista Elementary School in Iloilo. The soap and hygiene supplies and face-masks have enabled us to bring education back to life in our community. We cannot repay you but through our prayers that God will pour out more blessings to you."

Before the pandemic, we created a social media network for Muslim and Christian educators and children to share their new skills, hopes, and dreams. Mothers and fathers of pupils assist teachers to cook daily meals.  Since Super Typhoon Haiyan devastated many areas in 2013, we have provided thousands of books, school supplies, garden tools, and fresh water systems to children living in poverty.

Inter-faith cooperation teaches students the value of teamwork and unity. We provide face masks, basic food, clean water, and other hygiene products. But parents, teachers, and school children provide the energy and enthusiasm needed to bring their schools back to life. We could not do this without the assistance and care of GlobalGiving donors from around the world.

If you would like to add to your support or begin a monthly donation, please click through this report and GlobalGiving will prepare that for you to assist in this worthwhile endeavor.
