Pointters Community Initiatives (PCI) have always been driven by the need to provide minorities with the support and resources they need to have a safe, comfortable lifestyle. A pillar for achieving this safe, relaxed lifestyle includes a healthy body and protection from sickness. The COVID pandemic was a time of great turmoil for our community and had a drastic effect on our minority communities in the Fox Valley.

In collaboration with our partners, PCI has been involved in various health events across the Fox Valley to provide resources and information on COVID-19 safety and assistance with free COVID-19 vaccination clinics to help minority communities combat the virus. Our partners throughout the year have included Multicultural Coalition Inc (MCI), NEW Hmong Professionals, and Partnership Community Health.

This year, we have participated in 18 community health events/vaccination clinics, as well as 3 general health outreach programs. Among the many participants that attended our events, we have reached out to over 4,500 individuals to assist with vaccination scheduling, as well as adminstrating around 60 vaccinations for COVID-19 and Flu combined.

The events we have taken part in have taken place in schools, libraries, and churches. We have had our largest turn out of individuals reached thanks to our Academic Career Empowerment (ACE) event held in October last year. While this event was not strictly related to our COVID and Health Program, we were able to reach out to roughly 900 students who were each scheduled for a free covid vaccine with our assistance.

These numbers will only continue to grow as PCI expands their reach, bringing awareness and health resources to other programs and other events across the state of Wisconsin. We have a packed 2024 coming up, with new health events scheduled with our partners and plenty of opportunities to increase COVID-19 awareness and vaccination support.
