Protein is a vital nutrient required for the growth and development of individuals, especially children. It plays a crucial role in building and repairing tissues, producing enzymes and hormones, and in supporting the immune system.
The recent COVID-19 pandemic has underlined the importance of developing strong immunity so that we are able to ward off infections and diseases. Hence, as part of the "Covid: Feed 145 Families in Bangalore Slum, project", ACT distributed the protein mix to underprivileged families in the month of March. This ensures an adequate intake of the essential nutrients for the underprivileged families under our care, who may otherwise have limited access to nutritious food.
Team ACT prepared 100kgs of the protein mix. The entire process took 3 days to complete, and it involved several steps, which were carried out in collaboration with our ACT mothers. They first started with cleaning the ingredients, drying them, roasting, grinding, and finally packaging the protein mix. The distributed protein mix provides essential nutrients and promotes better health among the underprivileged families.
The project involved the active participation of the ACT mothers who worked closely with Team ACT at our Resource Centre to produce the protein mix. This collaboration with the mothers not only contributed to the production process but also empowered them by providing a platform for their skills and knowledge regarding indigenous food products to be recognized and valued. The mothers felt a sense of purpose and satisfaction in actively contributing to the well-being of their community.
