Quarterly Report: Youth Engagement and Education Initiatives
Over the past quarter, ORG Bahamas Foundation has been diligently working across various initiatives to engage and educate the youth of The Bahamas. Our efforts have focused on empowering young Bahamians through education reform advocacy, community outreach, and strategic partnerships aimed at fostering resilience, independence, and civic awareness.
Education Reform Advocacy:
ORG continues tochampion national advocacy for critical education reform, with a particular emphasis on the need for substantial investment in early childhood development. We believe that laying a strong educational foundation from an early age is essential for the future success of Bahamian youth.
Community Outreach:
Through our ongoing community outreach programs, ORG has delivered social-emotional content to primary and high school students, emphasizing the importance of self-determination and the power of youth as active citizens. In recent months, our programs have used the themes of Climate Change and Sustainable Development to help build the capacity of local youth for independence, resilience, and productivity.
New Partnerships:
We are proud to have recently partnered with "Sustainable Me," a community-focused organization dedicated to empowering and connecting parents and their children through online meet-ups and in-person workshops centered around sustainability, well-being, and belonging. This summer, Sustainable Me offered the "Sustainable Studio" camp, a four-week program structured around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The camp engaged youth in hands-on activities and discussions on topics like People, Planet, Peace, and Partnership, guided by a diverse group of guest experts and partners.
Youth Training Initiatives:
In collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and other local civil society organizations, ORG provided social-emotional learning-based training to 34 Bahamian girls. This training is part of our broader strategy to empower young women with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in life.
Looking Ahead:
In the coming months, ORG is planning to deepen its partnership with the Ministry of Education to introduce Active Citizenship training in local public schools. Additionally, Sustainable Me is evaluating how to have a more regular and significant impact in building resilience among Bahamian youth.
ORG Bahamas Foundation remains committed to creating opportunities for young Bahamians to learn, grow, and contribute to a sustainable and prosperous future for The Bahamas. We look forward to continuing our work with our partners to make a lasting difference in the lives of our youth.
