Empowering Future Leaders: Quarterly Update

By Matthew Aubry | Executive Director

Overview
In the past quarter, the Organization for Responsible Governance (ORG) continued its mission to promote education and social development in The Bahamas. Despite challenges in securing funding for national playdate events, ORG focused on advocacy and community engagement to advance early childhood development and social-emotional learning.

Key Activities and Achievements

  1. Advocacy for Early Childhood Development

    • ORG raised public awareness about the importance of early childhood development through media campaigns and participation in community events.
    • These efforts ensured that early childhood development remained a priority in public discourse and policymaking.
  2. Social-Emotional Learning and Civic Engagement Initiatives

    • Citizen Participation Workshop:
ORG conducted a workshop for over 25 girls in the Princess Court Ministries program, equipping them with skills in citizen participation. This initiative aimed to empower young women to actively contribute to their communities.
    • Youth Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Forum:
In partnership with the United Nations, ORG hosted a forum focused on the Sustainable Development Goals. During this event, ORG staff trained over 40 youth in advocacy skills, enabling them to take actionable steps toward achieving sustainable development in their communities.

Challenges
While ORG was unable to hold national playdate events due to funding constraints, the organization redirected its efforts to ensure progress in other areas.

Looking Ahead
ORG remains committed to advancing its education initiatives, with a focus on:

  • Securing resources to host national playdate events to promote early childhood development.
  • Expanding social-emotional learning programs to empower more youth and community members.
  • Strengthening advocacy efforts to keep education and development at the forefront of national priorities.

Conclusion
ORG's achievements this quarter highlight the resilience and adaptability of our team and supporters. Your contributions enable us to continue our vital work, empowering the next generation and building stronger communities in The Bahamas. Thank you for your ongoing support.
