AMC's Mothers' Classes program provides trusted, evidence-based guidance on pregnancy, childbirth and newborn care for women across Kosovo. Led by trained midwives and nurses at local health centers, the sessions help women feel informed, supported and ready to give their children a healthy start. This program reaches women in every corner of Kosovo, as it is implemented in 18 municipalities.
Many pregnant women in Kosovo, especially in rural areas, lack access to clear, professional maternal health information. They often receive conflicting or inaccurate advice from family and neighbours. This misinformation can delay prenatal care, increase stress and lead to preventable complications for both mothers and newborns.
The Mothers' Classes program offers practical and professional health education in primary healthcare centres. Led by trained midwives and nurses, the sessions combine videos, discussions and peer support to teach women how to care for themselves and their babies. By replacing myths with facts, the classes build confidence and encourage women to seek care early and regularly.
Since 2015, nearly 25,000 women and parents have benefited from the Mothers' Classes program. The sessions promote healthier pregnancies, safer births and stronger families, while building trust in the health system.
