Combating Child Malnutrition 

Internally displaced persons (IDPs)  in the province of Cabo Delgado, Mozambique are facing acute food insecurity. As part of the joint initiative to combat malnutrition amongst children, IsraAID and Save The Children International (SCI) held a food and nutrition workshop in March 2023. The culinary demonstration, hosted in the Nicavaco resettlement camp, aimed to raise awareness of what local ingredients are available and accessible and what their health benefits are. Parents were taught to prepare porridge consisting of moringa leaves, peanut powder, and corn flour. Following the success of the event, the two organizations committed to partnering for 5 more sessions, held monthly, in which the mothers have continued learning new nutritional tips and facts. 

Community Football Tournament  

In March and April 2023 IsraAID Mozambique together with the facilitators of our Child Friendly Space (CFS) (est. March 2022) organized a football tournament to promote socialization within the Nicavaco resettlement camp and to strengthen community resilience through sports. The fun activity brought people of all ages together to cheer for their favorite team. A total of 6 teams, composed of children from the ages of 10 -18, took part in the tournament and every participant received a small participation prize.
