Displaced families across informal camps in Northern Idlib endure harsh winter conditions alongside severe economic inflation, making basic staple food unaffordable. To address these critical food gaps, BESME INSANI implemented an emergency daily bread distribution operation. During this cycle, our logistical teams delivered 16,500 kg of fresh bread bundles to 3,300 vulnerable displaced households, directly benefiting approximately 16,500 individuals across multiple overcrowded settlements.
Due to soaring wheat flour costs and fuel shortages, purchasing daily bread creates an overwhelming financial burden for unemployed parents. Partnering with certified regional bakeries, BESME INSANI dispatched thermal-insulated delivery vans at dawn to transport fresh bread directly to camp clusters. This ensured that families received warm, high-quality bread bundles at their shelter tents without paying transport fees.
Field coordinators worked alongside local camp administrators to establish organized, decentralized distribution points. Priority registration was given to widow-headed families, households caring for orphans, and elderly individuals without support. Verification officers verified vouchers against master registration databases to ensure transparent delivery while preventing queue overcrowding.
Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude for the consistent bread supply, explaining that it lifts a major daily financial anxiety and prevents children from going to sleep hungry. BESME INSANI remains fully committed to expanding its bakery distribution routes to protect vulnerable displaced communities across Northwestern Syria.
