Hi dear friends & donors, we have exiting news about the goatproject, because the first goat kid has been born! It is a girl, so good new for the future.
The other 3 goats in this project are still pregnant, but will deliver soon we hope. The dairy goat project was initiated as a pilot program with 4 dairy goats in Mareu Village, Kwa Filipo sub-village on October 2025. The pilot group comprises 20 members, who are collectively working to improve household income and nutrition through sustainable dairy goat farming.
According to the project model, the first and second offspring (kids) from each goat will be passed on to new members, while the original goats remain with the initial farmers. This “pass-on” system ensures sustainability, inclusivity, and the gradual expansion of benefits to the wider community.
In the first phase, hopefully 8 new goats will be distributed to new members. As the project progresses, the first and second generations of kids (a total of 16) will also be given to additional members.
Looking forward to meet the other new kids and hopefully we receive money for the 4 other goats in this projects, so they can start also supporting the local community.
Best Regards,
Pendeali Amos & Peter de Laat
