The campaign to end child marriage in Uganda is still on and we are Accelerating progress because we know the importance that comes with empowering girls to realize their full potential.
On June 12th we coordinated a policy advocacy meeting with different stakeholders including members of Parliament, Religious leaders, partners from Ministry of Gender Lbour and Social development and Minisrty of Education and sports and other CSOs to share the road map and how to front the agenda for children especially the Girl Child. We recognize the fact that many girls are currently exposed to abuse as schools remain closed due to Covidpandemic, but we also call upon all stakeholders to play their roles in protecting girls.
A lot is happening as a result of closing schools and girls are confined in homes with their tormentors, teenage pregnancies have been on the rise, violence against children.
