Dear Donors,
We are excited to share with you the progress Joy for Children Uganda (JFCU) has made in raising awareness about Violence Against Children (VAC) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in communities across Uganda. Through our efforts, we are working to change attitudes and empower communities to take action against these harmful issues.
VAC and GBV continue to affect many children, especially girls, and women in Uganda. These forms of violence cause immediate harm and long-term damage to the health and well-being of victims, often trapping them in a cycle of violence. At JFCU, we are committed to reducing these incidents by raising awareness and encouraging communities to protect children and women from harm.
We have been organizing community dialogues, workshops, and training sessions to reach people in both rural and urban areas. These events bring together parents, teachers, religious leaders, and local authorities to discuss the impact of VAC and GBV. By sharing information and personal stories, we help community members understand the importance of protecting children and women and encourage them to take action if they witness abuse.
We also focus on educating schoolchildren and teachers. Teachers are trained to recognize signs of abuse and respond appropriately, while children learn about their rights and how to stay safe. This helps create safer environments in schools and gives children the confidence to report any abuse they may face.
JFCU has worked closely with local law enforcement and social services to ensure that when abuse occurs, victims receive the help they need. This includes legal support, healthcare, and counseling, while also holding perpetrators accountable.
The response from communities has been positive, with more people reporting cases of abuse and seeking support. While there is still much to be done, your support allows us to continue this vital work and reach more people. Together, we are helping to ensure that children and women in Uganda can live free from violence.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to making even more progress with your help.
