Joy for Children Uganda recently conducted a community mobilization meeting in Kabarole District targeting out-of-school young boys. The purpose of the meeting was to raise awareness about our Safe Spaces program and to encourage boys to join these supportive environments, which provide mentorship, life skills training, and psychosocial support. Through this initiative, we aim to equip young people with the knowledge, confidence, and tools they need to make positive life choices and play an active role in ending violence within their communities.
The meeting brought together boys from different villages who participated actively in discussions about the challenges that lead many children to drop out of school, including poverty, peer pressure, and lack of guidance. Facilitators highlighted how Safe Spaces serve as a safe, nurturing environment where young people can learn, grow, and receive guidance from mentors who are invested in their well-being.
Several boys who are already part of the program shared their experiences, inspiring others to see the benefits of joining. By the end of the meeting, many new participants had expressed interest in enrolling in the program, demonstrating their enthusiasm for mentorship and skills-building opportunities.
This activity strengthened our relationship with the community, expanded awareness about the program, and set the stage for ongoing mentorship and skills development sessions. Joy for Children Uganda extends sincere gratitude to our donors, partners, and supporters, whose contributions make it possible to reach vulnerable children, empower them with essential skills, and improve safe and nurturing environments where every child can succeed.
