DESDE ADENTRO: A Documentary Feature Film

We reached our goal! As planned, we have our first cut of the film!

We have shown the cut to members to  executive producers, filmmakers, and some participants of the documentary. We have discussed it and written their impressions, and we are now having programatic meetings with a Script Advisor to further strengthen our narrative structure.

In addition, we are in conversation with potential producers who will support us in obtaining the resources for the last steps of post-production and put together a distribution strategy. This possible co-production will be with a producer from Costa Rica, as well as with the Puerto Rican producer Vilma Liella. This will help us create a plan to identify festivals that we aspire to participate and start applying, those who allow it, with a work in progress piece. Also, me, the director received a special recognition award from Cultures of Resistence, supporting the production of Desde Adentro!

We continue to work hard to create an inspiring piece that can reach the recognition of being a legacy of social commitment cinema in the country. We hope to finish the last and final cut in July of this year.

Postproduction is in the works! As we progressed in the edit we began a new number of feedback sessions with fellow filmmakers that have identified certain gaps in the narrative thread. To make it more robust and accelerate the process we hired a new experienced Editor to support us on these new updates. He proposed a new narrative arc that would make a more robust, cohesive and intelligible story. This new updated script prompted us to film and record certain scenes and soundbites with the participants of the film.

Alongside these efforts we’ve been working with the Music Composer whose been creating demos to align with the Director’s vision of the score. A spotting session was made between Director & Editor to determine all the instances in the film that needed music and a cue sheet was created based on on it. The composer started started working on all cues and themes (To Picture) to be used later by the Director and Editor at their discretion.

Now the Director is with the Editor in Mexico City where they are working on the new script, and the editing plan. Also, viewing the raw material, organizing and managing the new audiovisual inventory, and putting together the new arc and narrative structure. First cut delivery is expected in December!
