Digital inclusion to end poverty

By Karyn Mikkelsen-Tillet | Director Global Partnerships & Communication

PN’s mission is to enable disadvantaged young people through access to education and technical and vocational training in the IT sector in Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Madagascar. These youth gain employability that allows them and their families to escape poverty in the long term, and to contribute to the socio-economic development of their country.

Created in 2006, PN has been operating in Southeast Asia since its creation, and more recently Madagascar. For the last 17 years, PN has produced more than 2,500 graduates with over 12,000 people lifted from poverty in three Asian countries. Among these, 89% of our beneficiaries, aged 17-24, come from rural areas. On average, more than 97% of our alumni find a job within three months after graduation. Over 93% of our alumni work in the digital industry and earn a salary on average 26% above national figures. They support their families by sharing 30% of their salaries with them. Presently, PN works with 678 direct beneficiaries from Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, and Madagascar. Through our outreach program to inform potential candidates of vocational training possibilities, we reach around 6,000 youth annually.

Through our NomadLab program in Cambodia - a modular, open source solution on tablets that aims to bridge the digital divide in rural and underserved communities, we reach more than 11,500 youth aged 6-18.

PN contributes directly to 5 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals:  No Poverty; Quality Education; Gender Equality; Decent Work and Economic Growth; and Reduced Inequalities.
