Dear supporters of Safe Spaces,
Developing your personal identity, your personality, your dreams in life often goes through literature. It broadens your world, it broadens your view on others, you recognize maybe yourself in the story and adventures of the heroins in the book.
Through the digital library children can join the 'book club' where they collectively read a book, discuss it like all book clubs do and write their own view and take on the book. What they have learned from it, how it has affected them and what they loved most about the book.
At the moment 20 girls attend the book club every Saturday. The teachers in school recently informed Safe Spaces that they have clearly seen that the literacy of these girls has significantly improved since they joined the book club.
It helps them with all subjects in school to better understand, use grammar and vocabulary in a different way, understanding more and reading between the lines.
This gives us absolutely the motivation to give more girls the opportunity to attend the book club when we will have the means to do so.
For now, thank you so much for your support,
